White Evangelicals have been the fiercest defenders and promoters of President Donald Trump, most of the times citing his judicial appointments and his pro-Israel positions including moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem.
They have likened his election to ascension to power of Cyrus the Great, King of Persia. Cyrus was prophesied in the book of Isaiah 45:1 (some 150 years before he was born, although some Bible researchers are of the opinion that Cyrus was not mentioned in the original book of Isaiah) as Messiah. During his reign, he enacted a degree that allowed the Jews to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the Temple.
Before the discussion in this episode of Velshi & Ruhle, former energy secretary Rick Perry is seen in a video saying that all through history God has always used imperfect people. He says that Trump is the Chosen One.
