PLAINVIEW, Texas — J.J. Culver, the brother of former Texas Tech star Jarrett Culver, scored 100 points in a game Tuesday for Wayland Baptist University.
Culver connected on 34-of-62 shots from the field, including hitting 12 of his 33 3-point shots and was 20-of-27 from the free-throw line for the 100 points. He also added nine rebounds, an assist, two blocks and five steals in a 124-60 win over Southwest Adventist University at the Hutcherson Center.
The NCAA record for points in a game is held by Frank Selvy of Furman, who reached the century mark against Newberry in 1954. The NAIA record is held by Clarence ‘Bevo’ Francis, who scored 113 in a game that same year.
Culver’s brother, Jarrett, now plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves after leading Texas Tech to a national championship game appearance in 2019.
